An experience unlike any other: The French Laundry
In 1994, the exclusive French Laundry was acquired by the renowned chef Thomas Keller, the only American-born chef with two three-star Michelin restaurants. Originally a residence and French steam laundry, the town mayor transformed the establishment into a restaurant in 1978. Known for its exceptional cuisine, the French Laundry has earned numerous accolades, including three Michelin stars. The restaurant has also been honored with the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurant Award, and Keller received the Outstanding Restaurateur award. Its prestigious reputation certainly makes it a destination worth a remarkable journey.
Chef Keller pairs classic French techniques with the freshest local ingredients, combining classic French cuisine with impeccable guest service. Most vegetables served at The French Laundry are seasoned with herbs and edible flowers from a nearby garden. The French Laundry offers two set menus, the Chef's Tasting (meat and seafood) and the Tasting of Vegetables. These come with nine courses, not including the opening 'appetizers,' aka Amuse Bouche. With its Napa location, the wine shares the same spotlight as the food. Getting a reservation at The French Laundry is remarkable, as it is one of the best restaurants in the US—and possibly the world.
Chef Keller has also opened several other restaurants around the country, including Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc in Yountville, New York City’s Per Se, and outposts of Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery in New York City, Beverly Hills, and Las Vegas.
