If you plan on taking part in the 2024 New York City Marathon, you will want to be eating all things healthy while in training mode. Even if you’re in the Big Apple with your cheerleaders, there are restaurants that offer both healthy and delicious cuisine everyone will love.

We have put together a list of five eateries for you to make it much simpler to find fare that is both fuel for your body and heaven on your palate.

Avant Garden

This is a vegan fine dining at its best. Avant Garden offers incredibly delicious menu items in an upscale atmosphere. Since its opening in 2015, it has been producing some of New York’s finest vegan dishes served with a healthy selection of curated, global natural wines. About Avant Garden, The Michelin Guide says, “This is excellent food that just happens to be vegan.”

Must try: Paella – calasparra rice, merguez royal trumpet, almonds in red pepper cream. Wash it down with a glass of I Vigneri Etna Bianco ‘Aurora’ from Sicily.


This vegan spot by Jean-Georges Vongerichten is known for its seasonal plates, tonics and cocktails. For health-conscious foodies, abcV is a must. The food is very tasty and the staff, attentive, warm and professional. The cuisine is plant based, sustainable, artisanal and sourced from small and family farms. abcV says its food embraces balance and beauty, wellness and wisdom.

Must try: Smoky wood ear and potato wontons, garlic sesame broth, market greens and mushrooms, yuba, custardy tofu.

Reserve Cut

This high-end certified kosher steak house comes with a wine room and French-Asian menu that includes sushi and Wagyu beef. You can dine in confidence that the meal you are having is not only tasty, but healthy. The ambiance is contemporary chic and inviting and the service is polished.

Must try: 14-ounce Wagyu beef boneless ribeye with a side of exotic mushroom sauté and grilled vegetables – roasted red peppers, squash, roma tomatoes and scallions. Also the beef tartare appetizer with truffle and egg yolk aioli, capers, grated black truffle, lemon and parsley.

Creative vegetarian small plates and cocktails are served in an embellished setting with plush banquettes. The food here will surpass your expectations regarding what’s healthy. Everything at Ladybird is on point: the ambiance, the soft décor, the service and especially, the food. Ladybird is the convivial environment for dates and good conversation.

Must try: KFB – tempura fried broccoli, gochujang tamari sauce, sesame and scallions.
